Why invest in MozAgrida?

There is huge potential in farming in Mozambique especially in the Manica Province where Moz-Agri is based. The area forms part of the Beira corridor and is situated halfway between Beira and Tete. Some of the world’s largest coal reserves have been found in Tete and this will create a very quick and massive boost to the local economy. It will thus also substantially increase the demand for staple foods, meat and fruit. The need to transport vast amount of coal to Beira and Nampula will also reinforce the need to improve the infrastructure of the Beira corridor ie roads, railway and electrical networks.

The pitfalls and difficulties of farming in these areas are however numerous and it makes much sense to team up with an existing company such as Moz-Agri rather than to attempt to develop farms from scratch.

It takes 18 – 24 months from identifying land before one has the DUAT in place and can actually start farming. The cost of this period can be huge for someone that has to travel back and forth and do not know the exact procedures and market conditions.

The importance of the ability to speak the local language can obviously not be underestimated. Similarly important is to know the area, the markets and where to find service providers and suppliers and what supplies and services are supposed to cost. The above mentioned facts have been the downfall of many farmers.

Immediate Investment Opportunities

Mucombeze

Beef – Investors are required to purchase/supply or to fund the acquisition of cows which will be managed on a 50/50 offspring share basis with the investor. Moz-Agro to handle all aspects of the management and marketing. This is an extremely attractive model as it provides a very good return on investment but takes the risk and responsibility of developing an own farm out of the equation for the investor. Mucombeze has a carrying capacity of ~800 head of cattle. A minimum investment of 50 cows is required.

Large Scale Investment Opportunities on the MozAgrida Farms

The 3 Moz-Agri farms on the Nhazonia River are suitable for a number of crops/product and summer and winter harvests are possible. In total app 900Ha can be irrigated under crops or fodder. With this amount of arable land and water for year round irrigation a number of commercial farms with critical mass can be developed:

  1. Establishing a dairy industry (dairy farming extremely underdeveloped in Mozambique)
  2. Large scale cereal production, seed for cereals or fruit production
    (Citrus, mangoes, litchis)
  3. Joint Venture in the business as a whole to fully develop the
    potential
of all Moz-Agri farms in terms of the current production
    maize/seed maize/beans/goat & cattle herds
